What is LTC/CHL?
LTC refers to the License to Carry, CHL refers to Concealed Handgun License. Texas allowed conceal carry beginning in 1995. 2016, Texas began to also allow open carry and changed the license name from CHL to LTC.
How long is the class?
Our class room portion typically lasts 4 to 6 hours, Our range portion runs about 1 to 2 hours.
Do you offer online classes?
Yes, we offer both online and in-person LTC classes approved by the Texas DPS.
What experience do you have?
Our Chief Instructor has been teaching CHL/LTC courses since 2011, backed by multiple certifications and over 20 years of law enforcement experience.

What does it cost to get a Texas LTC?
COST BREAKDOWN:
Online LTC Class: $24.99, through our partner, U.S. Law Shield. This is a limited time promo and is paid directly to USLS online when you sign up.
Shooting Test/Proficiency: $30, this is what we charge and is paid directly to our instructor the day of training. Any DPS certified instructor can provide this, and most ranges offer this service, but prices vary.
DPS Application Fee: $40, This is the standard fee, but DPS offers discounts for certain conditions. This is paid directly to the Texas DPS.
Fingerprinting Fee: $10 to $12, The DPS requires all applicants to submit fingerprints to complete the FBI background check. Paid to the DPS approved fingerprint vendor.
Range/Lane Fee: $18 to $25, the student pays this directly to gun range.

What is the process to obtain a Texas License to Carry (LTC)?
Our LTC class delivers 4-6 hours of engaging, informative training. Upon completion of the classroom portion (online or in-person), you must attend 1-2 hours of range instruction and demonstrate handgun proficiency at a local range, (Shooting Exam).
